Overview

CNT 258 is the second of two courses that make up the Red Hat Academy at Renton Technical College. This Red Hat Academy (RHA) course uses a combination of online workbooks lessons and local Lab exercises that heighten student learning. Students learn to be effective administrators of Linux systems, mastering tasks such as hardware and device configuration, file system management, user administration, network configurations, kernel services, attaching new Linux systems to a corporate network, configuring the new systems for end-users, and troubleshooting. The above may be supplemented by instructor-led discussions. CNT 256 is a prerequisite for this course.

Linux is a low-cost computer operating system that is growing quickly in popularity. It has been a workhorse in the web-server segment of the Internet running Apache Web Server, and is now breaking into the LAN server and Desk-top arena. Technicians certified in the Linux operating system are in high demand.

The Red Hat Academy prepares you to take the Red Hat Certified Technician (RHCT) exam and become an RHCT. The RHCT is one of the most respected certifications in the Linux career field.

This course teaches advanced subjects of Linux and along with CNT 256, is intended for anyone that wants to learn how to install, configure, administer, and support Linux servers and workstations
